Members of the Oxygen Commando at the Polyvalente des Baies organized a number of public awareness activities to expose all you need to know about the myths of glorifying cigarettes on-screen. They place 2 giant puzzles showing, on one side, the fictious and glamourous aspect of cigarettes and, on the other side, a much starker reality.
The Commando Oxygen team from Le Tournesol school deliver a forceful message on the glamourous depiction of tobacco on-screen. They hold their intervention during a Health conference at heir school.
An Oxygen Commando at De l’Escabelle school shows teens how the tobacco companies benefit from on-screen depictions of smoking. The intervention took place during the Secondaire en spectacle event, so the teens were able to attract the attention of a lot of spectators.
Mission accomplished!

Around 60 teens from British Colombia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes took advantage of the 6th national Conference on Tobacco or Health to support the actions of the Oxygen Commandos. They denounced the distortion that exists between reality and the glamorous image of tobacco on screen.
Accompanied by Jici Lauzon, the teens demonstrated their disatisfaction in the heart of downtown Montreal, in front of the Imax cinema.


The teens were able to attract the attention of the media. Mission accomplished!

At the simultaneous declaration against tobacco onscreen, issued by members of the Youth Coalition Against Smoking Advisory Network on March 23, 2007, an Oxygen Commando at the Hormidas-Hamelin secondary school performed a convincing sketch that was much appreciated by the students.



On March 23, 2007, an Oxygen Commando from the Jean Grou secondary school organized a presentation on the harmful impacts of tobacco onscreen, in support of the simultaneous declaration by members of the Youth Coalition Against Smoking Advisory Network in Québec’s 16 regions.
